I am calling all moms for some advice. All of a sudden my daughter has decided to become a picky eater. I will make meals for her that I have made before that she has eaten only to find out she is not going to eat it this time around. I am hoping moms will share some meal and snack ideas with me for toddlers. It is so hard to think and figure out new meals. I am getting deparate. Please help.
Thank you,

I feel your pain. Avery is underweight right now because she refuses to eat anything but bad food. I'll fix her something one day and she'll love it, and the next day she won't touch it.
ReplyDeleteI try to "hide" things in foods she likes. Like mac n cheese, I'll add a bit of chopped spinach. Or I'll make pancakes and add a container of sweet potato baby food (it is SOO good). Just add a bit more of the pancake mix to even it out. She also loves meatballs/meatloaf with veggies chopped and hidden inside (sometimes I'm lazy and add purreed baby food.). Also at the store in the freezer section are "spinach nuggets". Yes, they are fried, but at least they have a veggie in them.
Also, we use a lot of "dipping" sauces. Ranch, ketchup, A-1, thousand island. They love to dip.
Hope that helps!!!
I'm right there with you, too. We didn't have these issues with Caleb, but Logan is one of the pickiest eaters known to man! :) I agree with what Christy said above about hiding foods. I will also "hide" pureed cooked cauliflower in mac-n-cheese... you can't taste it at all. Our pediatrician also goes by the "Tough Love" idea, and we've implemented that to a certain degree. If Logan doesn't want to eat what we set in front of him, the next meal will be another chance. I can't tell you the number of times we've put him to bed without him eating his dinner, but he's still alive. A child this age will not willingly starve themselves (but they do get awfully cranky when they're not fed!) and will eat at some point, regardless.
ReplyDeleteRyan and I keep looking at each other in desperation when he won't eat, and we have to remind ourselves that in just a few years he and his brothers will be eating us out of house and home.
These are the days of our lives...
Good luck! If you find something that works, do share!! :)
Thank you so much for the great ideas. I appreciate all the help I can get. I like the idea of hiding things in the food. I will get started on that right away. I will let you know how it goes.
